All the academic departments of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics (FIS) of the University of Economics, Prague (VŠE) have joined their efforts to launch two new master programmes:

  • Information Systems Management (ISM)
  • Quantitative Economic Analysis (QEA)

Both programmes are designed as two-year full-time (120 ECTS) courses taught completely in English. If you wish to start your ISM or QEA studies in September 2015, do not hesitate and apply now!

Are ISM or QEA for you?

To get prepared for a successful career as an IT manager, information systems auditor, knowledge engineer, business analyst or consultant, choose… ISM_logo+text_RGB_197x40
To get closer to a promising future as a statistical data analyst or operational researcher working either for a public body or a private company, choose… QEA_logo+text_RGB_184x40

What else makes you the right candidate…

You have obtained your undergraduate/bachelor diploma either in an informatics-related or in a quantitatively-oriented field of study (you may also be finishing the last year of your degree now) and you do have the necessary level of knowledge of English language.

What are the programmes like?

They are designed as 2-year/4-semester/120-ECTS programmes. To complete the 120 ECTS you will need to take a certain number of compulsory courses (ca 50% of the total), several elective courses and a minor specialization (a 30-ECTS set of courses in a field of study complementary to ISM or QEA). At the end of your studies you will have to pass final exams and defend a master thesis.
The third semester of studies can be spent abroad.

You can also look forward to…

At FIS you will become a part of a community of students and academic staff members not only dedicated to their fields of study and research, but also participating in international activities and involved in projects carried out in cooperation with businesses.
On the university campus you will also be able to meet students of other faculties and disciplines, both local and international, and will have the opportunity to attend academic, cultural, social and career-oriented events or to get involved in student societies.
As for practical aspects of the student life: please be assured that university accommodation and on-campus dining services at reasonable prices are available.

Money matters…

The tuition fee is 1.800 EUR/semester.
According to VŠE regulations, university/faculty scholarships are awarded mainly to students achieving outstanding study results and to students being officially sent for a semester abroad. For general information about scholarships available to international students coming to the Czech Republic we recommend to refer to studyin.cz.
Accommodation and dining services at prices considerably lower than the market prices are available to all VŠE students.

Time to apply!

Do not forget that to start ISM or QEA in 2015/2016 (September 2015) you will need to submit your application by 30 April 2015.
Bear in mind that there are three steps you will have to take:

  1. Submit an e-application (online).
  2. Pay the application fee (50 EUR).
  3. Send your application package with the required documents (per post).

The next stage of the admission process – the admission exam – will come in mid-May: you will be asked to submit a written assignment (essay) on a given topic. Everything will to be arranged per e-mail, no presence in person required.

We look forward to receiving your application!
