International week 2025
In January, the 9th International Week took place under the auspices of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics and, as in previous years, in cooperation with the Faculty of Finance and Accounting and the Faculty of International Relations. The programme offered ten intensive courses, the most courses since the beginning of the event. Classes ran from Monday, 20 January to Wednesday, 22 January, and on Thursday, 23 January, the event concluded with a farewell session with the visiting professors, during which experiences and impressions from the week were exchanged.
Unlike regular lectures, International week courses are characterised by their intensity and interactivity. Students absorb new knowledge in just three days, while visiting professors face the challenge of how to convey this information most effectively. Each student chooses one of the courses on offer and receives 3 ECTS credits for successful completion.
This year’s edition was not without its challenges – illness, lost personal belongings and delayed arrivals of some professors added a few worries to the organizing team. Nevertheless, they managed to overcome all obstacles and ensure the smooth running of the event.
International week hosted renowned professors from different parts of the world, e.g. from Taiwan, India, Chile, USA, Great Britain, Germany and Poland. And at the last minute we also had to manage the online connection of teachers from Germany and the UK.
The feedback on the courses from students has been positive for the most part. Students highlighted the quality of the teaching and the expertise of the lecturers. The most appreciated aspects were the practical examples, the interactive teaching and the international perspective that the event offered.
The main motivations for attending the courses were interest in the topics, the possibility of obtaining 3 ECTS credits and expanding their professional knowledge. The students highly appreciated the professionalism, accessibility and the ability of the lecturers to transfer professional knowledge in an engaging way. Despite the intensive schedule and the demanding nature of the courses, the students managed to complete the course successfully.
This year’s International week attracted 361 students, double the number of participants compared to last year! This makes it an increasingly popular and important part of the academic calendar. New courses for the upcoming edition of I-WEEK will be announced in June 2025 – be sure to keep an eye on the official website to secure your place early!
