FIS students awarded by the Dean

Last week, the Dean of our university proudly awarded the Student of the Master’s degree programme in Economic Data Analysis for their outstanding performance in the European Big Data Hackathon 2025. This prestigious event, organized by Eurostat, saw participation from 20 teams representing statistical institutes and 7 university teams from European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS) labelled universities.

Among the fierce competition, our talented students, Praveen Sharma and Jing Zhang, achieved an impressive overall 4th place, outperforming many professionals from statistical institutes. Their remarkable achievement also earned them the prize for the best EMOS school.

To honor their success, the Dean, prof. Fischer, along with the Academic Director of FIS study programmes, doc. Mazouch, hosted a celebratory lunch for both students. Afterwards Praveen and Jing were awarded certificates of excellence.
