Day of FIS PhD students
On January 28, 2026, the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics hosted the 31st annual scientific seminar “Day of FIS PhD students” organized under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics. This traditional event allows doctoral students to present their research, receive feedback, and establish professional contacts across the faculty.
Doctoral students from all FIS programs participate in the seminar. For students who enrolled before March 1, 2025, participation is mandatory until the end of their sixth semester. However, students who are not required to participate were also able to present, as were doctoral students who had previously presented at the seminar and had made progress in their work.
The seminar included two competition sections in which expert committees awarded prizes for the best contributions. Below is an overview of the winners:
Section: Applied Informatics
1st place – Ing. Alžbeta Gburíková

This year’s event once again confirmed that Day of FIS PhD students is a key platform for sharing scientific results, developing professional skills, and strengthening faculty cooperation. The atmosphere, level of discussion, and diversity of topics presented were very positively evaluated. Participants identified networking, useful feedback, inspiring presentations, and high-quality professional discussions as the main benefits. Although participants suggested several improvements, it is clear that the seminar has a firm place among doctoral students and contributes significantly to their professional growth.
The collection of abstracts will be published on the faculty website as an eBook and will be available at https://fis.vse.cz/doktorske-studium/dalsi-informace/den-doktorandu/. The next Day of PhD students will take place again in a year. However, according to current information, it will probably be the penultimate or even the very last year of this long-running seminar.
Finally, we would like to thank all doctoral students and evaluators for their active participation and support of this year’s event. Your presentations, stimulating discussions, and willingness to share your knowledge contributed to making Day of FIS PhD students an inspiring and enriching meeting once again. We look forward to future joint events and wish everyone much success in their scientific and academic work.
