FAQ – for new students!
Dormitories
- Please check, if you really booked and finished the reservation of dorms. Is your room really approved in ISKAM?
- Moving in is possible from 6th September.
- The moving-in should be on weekdays during office hours. If your arrival is outside office hours, you should contact your dormitory manager in advance- Dormitories
- If you come to Prague earlier, you can stay at the “hotel accommodation” located at our dormitories https://www.hotelvse.cz/
- If you know you arrive later than September 11, 2024, please send a notice email directly to Dormitory Manager where you will be staying – Dormitories.
- Please note that if you do not arrive within five days from the start of the accommodation, your reservation will be canceled, and the deposit will not be refundable.
The contract can be found in your ISKAM account.
It is necessary to sign the contract electronically in the ISKAM interface. It is, of course, possible to study and go through the contract before signing.
The contract can be signed in ISKAM 7 days before the date of the beginning of student accommodation in ISKAM, when the possibility of electronic signature will be activated.
InSIS (Study Information System)
- Starting from September 2023, multi-factor authentication is required, to login to the InSIS and to Office365.
A special application has to be installed on mobile phones first, to be able to use this application for secure entering of the university systems.
Look for more information here. - Then go to https://insis.vse.cz/?lang=en.
- Use the credentials, which you received from the FIS Study Office after being enrolled to the program. Don’t forget to change your password.
- Check your personal information, especially your name, passport number, phone number and contact address in Czechia. To change these information, if necessary, contact the FIS Masters or EDS office or write an official request for change of personal information in InSIS (e-agenda, contact centre).
- The University Email can be found in InSIS or in outlook in Office 365.
- If you will not use regularly the outlook in Office 365, then we recommend you to redirect the University email to your personal email.
- It is the official way for communication with your teachers and other University staff. We will send you information only on your University email. Check your email box regularly!

- In InSIS you can see your
- timetable,
- grades,
- study plans,
- contact on your teachers,
- you have to register there for courses and exams,
- submit homeworks, projects and also for example the Bachelor/Master Thesis.
- Also official request can be sent only via InSIS.

WiFi
- At the University Campus and in dorms we use Eduoram.
- How to connect to Eduoram read here, don’t forget to set a separate eduoram password.
- In dorms there is also access to cabel internet. Students can connect their computer with a cable to the data socket on the wall. The fixed connection has several advantages over eduroam: especially higher connection speed.

University ID Card
- The University ID card is necessary to be able to entry the dormitories, the University Campus, to open some classrooms and also for visiting of the University Library.
- The University ID card can be used also for purpose of receiving meal in the University canteen for student’s price.
- The University ID card can be also used as electronic wallet, for paying in University canteens and for printers at the Campus.
- If you order ISIC card (International Student Identity Card), you can receive student discount also in many other places – shops, theaters, restaurants outside VŠE. Read more about ISIC card here.

- The issue of ordered cards will take place from September 9, 2024. Students who have received an information email about the issue of the card can pick it up at the issue counter located next to the RB 101 auditorium in the passage from the Italská building to the Rajská building. (map here)

Office 365
- That are applications (cloud service) from Microsoft.
- There are:

Register with your username to InSIS (username@vse.cz) and your password to InSIS or install the application MS Teams to your device (recommended).

In the webportal Office 365 choose the application Outlook.
- Open the Office 365 one day, after being enrolled to studies (the system needs one day to create an account in Office 365).
- Before connecting to Office 365, change your authomatically generated password to InSIS first.
- Yes, we will use MS Teams in many classes. Students, who will use the hybrid teaching within the first three weeks in the semester, will join to classes via MS Teams.
- MS Teams is a cloud application for communication with other members of your company or university, it is a great tool for online teaching.
- There will be also a separate group, to be able to join the FIS Master office online.
- Chat can be used also for communication with your teachers and classmates. You can use usual chatroom or videochats.

- In the settings symbol choose “setting” , arrangement “list” (for firms), arrangement “grid” (for schools).
- Click on “hidden channel” and choose in “online learning” – “display”.
- Connect to the channel “online learning”.
- You may now set the video . If possible turn off the sound to don´t disturb the teacher.
- Click to login.

After arrival Visa obligations, Health insurance
EU CITIZENS
EU citizens accommodated outside the university dorms must report in person at the Foreign Police at the address below within 30 days of arrival. Those staying at the university dorms will be reported by the dorms office.

NON-EU CITIZENS
1. Non -EU citizens with long-term visa
- accommodated at the university dorms do not have to report to the Foreign Police. The dorms office will report them automatically.
- staying outside the dorms have to report to the Foreign Police at the address above within 3 working days of entering the Czech Republic.
2. Non-EU citizens with a long-stay visa issued for the purpose of collecting the long-term residence permit
- accommodated at the dorms do not have to report to the Foreign police. The dorms office will report them automatically.
- staying outside the dorms have to report to the Foreign Police at the address above within 3 working days of entering the Czech Republic.
Non-EU citizens applying for the long-term residence permit must also within 30 calendar days of entering the Czech Republic report to the Ministry of Interior/Department for Asylum and Migration Policy in person for the purpose of carrying out activities associated with issuing a biometric residence card, where they may also report their arrival.
They then have to present themselves at the Ministry to collect the residence card within 60 days of biometric data collection.
For visiting the Ministry of Interior/Department for Asylum and Migration Policy it is necessary to have an appointment reserved in advance. Therefore, we recommend making an appointment with the Ministry of Interior office on this phone number +420 974 801 801 right after you arrive to the Czech Republic or at this webportal https://ipc.gov.cz/en/
Practical information for moving in to Czechia

- And buy the long-term ticket. If you are younger than 26, connect with your ISIC card, to receive the student price.
