Presentations and info sessions for new admitted students, right before the start of the semester.
ISM and EDA students are asked to attend following presentations before the start of the semester.
WELCOME DAY: Tuesday, September 13, 9:30 – 15:00, in NB468
in hybrid form, attendance required
- Welcome speech
- Introductory presentation (study rules, InSIS, ECTS credits, study obligations, Visa rules…)
- Campus tour
- Welcome lunch
ORIENTATION DAY 2: Wednesday, September 14
- 9:00-11:00 – ISM and EDA study plan presentations – online in MS Teams, attendance required
- 12:45 – 16:00 – EDA students only – 4ST660 – Basic of quantitative methods in R, SB 202 – in hybrid form (part I)*
- evening – Welcome ceremony – at the Campus Vencovského aula
ORIENTATION DAY 3: Thursday, September 15
- 9:15 – 12:30 – EDA students only – 4ST660 – Basic of quantitative methods in R, SB 202 – hybrid form (part II)*
- afternoon – presentations organized by the VŠE International Office
Czech Language Guide (learn some basics of the Czech language) – 12:45-14:15, at the Campus Likešova aula
Culture Shock Lecture (culture shock, its phases and how to survive it) – 14:30 – 16:00, at the Campus Vencovského aula
Chill Out Zone (area to relax, play different games and enjoy free refreshment) – 16:15 – 17:45, at the Campus Academic club
ORIENTATION DAY 4: Friday, September 16
- program organized by the VŠE International Office
Team Game (join the activity to dicvoer the campus, have fun and meet new friends) – 10:00-13:00, RB101 and around the Campus
Cultural History of Czech Lands (learn the most important facts about the Czech history) – 14:00 – 15:30, RB 101

- find here a recorded video the from last year, where the University Library is introduced. Your access to the video has to be confirmed, so it will take few Minutes beeing forwarded to the stream

TRIP TO KARLŠTEJN: Saturday, September 24, Saturday, October 1
- The FIS Masters Office organizes a trip to a nice old castle near to Prague. The costs will be paid by the Faculty. Invited will be new and current students. Registrations will open on September 5. There will be a limited number of seats.
*Basic of quantitative methods in R 4ST660 – elective course for EDA students for 3 ECTS, it should help them to receive basic information in statistics, econometrics and programming in R (or for those who would like to practise basic programming in R)
The course will be taught two days during the O-Week and then within the first two weeks in the semester (22, 23, 29 and 30 September). The course is recommended for those students, who didn’t study statistics and exonometrics deeply during their previous study, to be able to visit the classes within the first semester.
