European Statistics Awards for Nowcasting

Eurostat is pleased to announce the third round of the European Statistics Awards for Nowcasting, with a focus on international trade in goods. The competitions begin in September 2024 with registration open until 30 October 2024.

The focus of the competitions will be in forecasting three key indicators: Extra-EU Imports, Extra-EU Exports, and Intra-EU Exports. Policymakers and other stakeholders frequently stress the importance of faster access to European statistics, which are essential for governments, businesses, and research organizations in monitoring international trade trends, evaluating trade policies, and analysing the economic impact of global trade.

Do you know how to code in Phython or R? Register by 30 October 2024 and try your chances on your own or with a team of peers.

You can win up to €10 000 for the time series.  

The top prize breakdown includes: €3 000 for Accuracy, €2 000 for Innovativity, and €5 000 for Reusability.

There will also be second and third place prizes for the Accuracy Award, amounting to €2 000 and €1 000, respectively.

You and your team could potentially win up to €30 000 if you achieve first place in all three categories across all three time series.
