International Week 2024
The 8th year of International Week took place in January, organized under the auspices of the Faculty of Informatics and Statistics with the participation of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting and the Faculty of International Relations. A total of seven intensive courses were held, with classes scheduled from Monday, January 15, to Wednesday, January 17. The event concluded on Thursday, January 18, with a farewell session where visiting professors shared their experiences and impressions from the entire I-WEEK.
I-WEEK courses differ from traditional lectures mainly in the style of teaching. During the short learning time, the students try to absorb new information and for the visiting professors it is also a challenge how to best present this information over the course of three days.
Students choose one of the intensive courses from the overall I-WEEK lecture offerings, and upon successfully passing the exam, they earn 3 ECTS credits. The final assessment in these courses usually takes the form of a group work or an essay.
In this year’s event, we welcomed a very likeable group of professors from different parts of the world such as Slovenia, the Netherlands, Germany, Chile and Taiwan.
The students evaluated the professors very positively and were really satisfied with them. They were very much looking forward to the chosen topics to bring them new knowledge and a different perspective on the subject, which met their expectations. Despite the intensive teaching style and the complexity of some topics, the courses were understandable to all and presented concisely, with excellent feedback for potential student discussions.
Thanks to professors from different countries, students also had the opportunity to practice their English on specialized topics. This year’s International Week attracted 187 students.
The new courses for the upcoming I-WEEK will be announced in June 2024.
