Spring Escapes: A Quick Trip to Naples
Written by Bjanka
April and May are filled with holidays, which feel like a gift for students. Even though we’re deep into thesis deadlines, exam prep, and final assignments, this time of year also offers the perfect chance to step away and breathe.
I recently took a short trip to Naples, Italy, flying directly from Prague. With so many affordable and direct flights from here, planning a quick escape is incredibly easy. And honestly, it was the best decision I could’ve made.
Despite the pressure of uni deadlines, giving yourself a break can help you more than pushing through burnout. Walking along the seaside in Naples, feeling the sun on my face and the breeze from the water, was incredibly calming. Those quiet moments helped me reset mentally. I returned with more energy, focus, and a much better mindset to tackle everything waiting for me back home.
Naples itself was a lovely surprise—busy streets, warm people, unbeatable pizza, and plenty of history to soak in. And speaking of pizza… I have to admit something significant: for the first time in my life, I didn’t ask for extra ketchup on it. I know, shocking! But honestly, when you taste real Neapolitan pizza straight from the source, you don’t need anything else. Naples takes the crown for the best pizza of all the places I’ve visited in Italy. No debate.
Another personal win? I packed everything into a 10kg suitcase. If you know me, you’ll understand what an unbelievable achievement that is. It felt like character development.
One of the most random and wholesome things happened while I was wandering the city: one afternoon—Saturday or Sunday, I lost track of time—people gathered in a square to trade their Panini
stickers. It was like a little sticker market, with everyone holding stacks and flipping through their collections. It felt so nostalgic and sweet, like stepping into a childhood memory.
So, if you’ve been buried under deadlines or feeling overwhelmed, take advantage of these spring holidays. Even a short break somewhere sunny can do wonders for your mind. And who knows—you might return with great memories, a full camera roll, and a new record in light packing.
Where’s your next reset taking you?
