Konopiště Castle is a historic chateau located near Benešov in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Originally built as a Gothic fortification in the late 13th century, it was later transformed into a Baroque residence. The castle is most famous for being the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, whose assassination in 1914 triggered World War I. Today, Konopiště Castle is a popular tourist destination, known for its beautiful gardens, extensive art collections, and historical exhibits.
